NEW! Chinese Symbol Date Rings

We’ve had a peanut butter meets chocolate kind of moment. (Remember that old Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup commercial when the peanut butter lover bumps into the chocolate lover? Oh, my, how I love Reese’s. But I digress.)

Our Roman Numeral rings and our Chinese Symbol jewelry are two of our hottest products. So …. Eureka!  We’ve created a Chinese Symbol Date Ring!  A very exotic way to mark a wedding date or other special moment.

Personalization can be in any date format (full date, year, month, etc.) or any number that you choose. The rings are available in a full range of precious metals and in both one tone and two tone.

Dates in Chinese are traditionally expressed in  yyyy/mm/dd order. The appropriate number characters are followed by the character representing “year,” “month” and “day” as shown in the examples below. For numbers beyond 10, the characters are added together. For example, the number 24 would consist of the characters for 2, 10, and 4.

A Delight From Chris Ploof Studio

When you’re in the jewelry biz you get to see a lot of jewelry …. I mean A LOT. You tend to get a bit jaded.

But then you come across something that surprises and delights you. That’s what the very beautiful and unique Mokume Gane Rings from Chris Ploof Studio have done. We think they just might do the same for you.

Chris told us this about the intriguing mokume process:

“Mokume gane is an ancient Japanese technique that bonds many layers of precious metals into a single piece that is then worked into beautiful patterns. The name means “wood pattern metal.”

Love Is In The Air

Wedding  ring and anniversary ring orders tell us that there’s definitely quite a bit of romance in the air. And while our Roman Numeral, Chinese Symbol and Name and Message Rings are all very popular choices, we’ve been creating quite a few completely custom rings for customers. And that made us realize that we haven’t talked much about these little custom beauties.

Below are two completely custom rings we’ve recently completed – one a twentieth anniversary ring and one an engagement ring. Both stunning and one-of-a-kind.

Anniversary Ring

The first ring was created by a very sweet husband named Bill for his bride of twenty years. Bill wanted to create something stunning and spectacular that would thank his wife for twenty wonderful years. Now that’s a true romantic.

Bill’s inspiration was our Pierced Roman Numeral Ring, Rimmed with Diamonds in 18k yellow gold. We slimmed the band and added a 1.2ct center cushion cut diamond rimmed with twenty smaller diamonds.

We thought the ring was beautiful and really enjoyed creating it for such a special couple. Bill sent us a note after he gave his wife the ring to let us know it was a big hit. We were thrilled.

Engagement Ring

The second ring is an engagement ring for a very particular young woman. She had done extensive research and had selected different elements that she liked from a variety of different rings.  We pulled them all together to create a truly stunning engagement ring that fulfilled our bride’s vision.

The ring was created in platinum with the center piece a cushion cut 1.5ct diamond rimmed with small diamonds with a princess cut diamond on either side and small diamonds down the shank. The total diamond carat weight of the ring is 2.5ct.

It was a thrill to create such a spectacular one-of-a-kind ring for a very special young woman.

Family is Forever: Our Family Birthstone Pendant Collection

We’ve been blown away with the response to our first family birthstone pendant that we introduced last year – the Family Spiral Birthstone pendant. Customers told us that it was really hard to find a pendant that would hold many birthstones yet was still attractive and stylish. They said that our Spiral Family Pendant was a welcome relief from the uninspired and less than attractive designs they saw everywhere else.

With the great response to our first pendant, we knew we were on to something. We decided to introduce several  new and totally original Family Pendant designs this year.

And, to make this a true family effort, Lynn and I called on our very talented artist sister, Jill, to design the collection. Jill has been a professional graphic and fine artist for many years (I don’t want to get into trouble, so I’m not saying exactly how many years) and has a real feel for jewelry. Today we’re introducing Jill’s first design of the collection – the Family Leaf Birthstone Pendant. This elegant pendant will hold up to 12 birthstones, but also looks lovely with just a few. The graceful lines of the veins of the leaf hug each birthstone. The pendant is available in sterling silver, 10k, 14k, and 18k gold, palladium and platinum, and can also be created as a brooch.
